Nadia comăneci honored with Romania’s highest distinction on 50th anniversary of perfect 10

The award recognizes Comăneci as the greatest gymnast of all time and celebrates her enduring legacy. 

At the 1976 Olympics, the 14-year-old Romanian became the first gymnast in history to score a perfect 10.0 on the uneven bars, stunning the world and redefining excellence in the sport.

Romanian officials praised her as a “national treasure” and a global inspiration. Her career, filled with Olympic golds, world titles, and pioneering performances, continues to symbolize Romanian excellence.
